Customizing your community profile A crucial but sometimes overlooked part of getting started in Network VIP is customizing your profile. It helps us and the rest of Network VIP get to know you. Plus, we have new badges and ranks you can earn. This means people can check your profile to see your rank and what you’ve been up to. A quick guide to customizing your profileYour profile can be accessed by hovering over your profile picture icon in the right and clicking “my profile”. If you are logged in you should also be able to access your profile by clicking this link. Click edit and fill out the fields below. Add a profile picture: Click edit, and add an image. Add your company: with your organization. Fill out your job title: If you’re self employed or a student feel free to add that there. Add a bio: Write a couple lines about yourself. Let us know your hobbies, why you are here, or anything you think we should know. Select the BlueCat products you use: If applicable. If you d

Whether your new or coming from our legacy Network VIP Slack channel it’s great to make sure your notification settings are customized to your preferences. To customize your notifications:1. Click on your profile2. Click edit and click on the notifications tab Choose your settings and click “save changes”! You should also be able to go straight to your notification settings using this link: https://community.bluecatnetworks.com/settings/notifications Make sure you subscribe to any categories you want to get notifications for! While the subscriptions notification is default “on” you’ll still need to subscribe to individual categories to get notified.

A quick guide to note some of the differences between ranks and badges in Network VIP!Ranks Ranks accrue over time based on your depth and variety of engagement on the Community indicating the value you have brought to the Community over time. Ranks are automatic and denoted by the icons against your profile pic. You can also check your position on the community leaderboard Badges The Badges you spot in the pop-out while hovering over the user profile pics or on users' profiles are tailored for the various initiatives the user participates in on the Community. Some badges are earned automatically by completing certain actions or milestones. In case you’re wondering what a rank is, it’s a ladder that you can rise up in the community through participation. It’s a badge of honor for those who contribute to the community, and it helps everyone quickly get a sense of which members are the true experts. You’ll know when you get a new rank as we’ll send you a nice message about it. Ranks are based on thresholds that you reach through joining and participating in the community.
