I would be interested in how people are using UDLs in real life.  I have not used them yet, but it seems like I probably should somewhere.

I’ve seen a number of live use cases since we implemented

  • Using UDLs to map IPv4 and IPv6 resources together such as Dual-Stack networks
  • Using UDLs to map overlapping VRF blocks in different configurations to the default configuration
  • Using UDLs to represent to user various types of NATS like this IP address is an SNAT to a this network
  • Using UDLs to show VIPs between IP nodes

The premise is there are customer specific relationships between IP entities that they want representation to users

​@bshorland is there a way to “bulk import” UDLs in the UI?  I have this vague idea of using UDLs to associate multiple IPs to a server but I’m concerned about what the work flow might look like for our registration team.  They often get bulk requests that they use CSV import on.  We could write something using the API I’m sure but then we’ll have them flipping between tools to get their imports done.
