Does anyone know what the requirements are for a BDDS to show up in the Visualization/Dashboards section with the new metrics?  I know it must be running 25.x, however I’ve added a new BDDS in my lab and it’s not showing up.

I performed the following sequence:

BAM → upgraded from 25.1 to 25.1.1 (previous to 25.1 it was running 9.5.2).

BDDS→ Added to BAM while the BDDS was running 9.5.2

BDDS->Upgraded to 25.1.1

BDDS does not show up in Visualization but shows connected to BAM and can receive deployments and otherwise operates normally.

BAM->Disabled/enabled the BDDS, restarted BAM, disabled/replaced, deleted/readded the BDDS while it was running 25.1.1.  Stopped/started the metrics exporter service. Nothing I do seems to get it to show up.  It’s clearly getting filtered (like the rest of the BDDS’s running 9.x attached to this BAM) - but I can’t see why.  The API calls being made by the UI are returning the full list of servers.

Hello @tmaestas ,

We’d be happy to assist you with this. Could you please open a case and include all the relevant details?

In the meantime, you may want to check whether the BDDS server can resolve the BAM IP address using the time host command. Ideally, the real time response should be under 10 seconds.

If the real time is 10 seconds or longer, please verify the following:

  • The BDDS server is allowed to receive a response for the reverse IP address.

  • If the BDDS is external or caching, ensure that appropriate nameservers are defined.

Ah that helps, thank you.  Is the requirement simply that a DNS lookup for the BAM FQDN and/or IP address succeeds or fails within 10 seconds?  My test BDDS had only an unreachable DNS server in its resolver configuration which was causing lookup timeouts.  Simply removing this unreachable DNS server, so that all DNS lookups fail immediately, has resulted in the BDDS now being listed in the dashboard/visualization.

but for some reason it’s classified as an Address Manager and is only showing address manager category stats, not BDDS?  What would cause that?

My BDDSes are identified correctly but I was getting “No data” for almost all metrics until I changed the time interval on one of them.  After that they all started showing the metrics no matter which time interval I selected.
